Coastal Plain
The rules for achieving success with covers crops are simple:
- Plant on time
- Plant the right cover crop
- Terminate on time
- Keep something growing in the soil as much of the time as possible.
While the rules are simple, their application is complex. We know enough to make success possible, but success is highly dependent on knowledge of the farmer and the skill with which they apply that knowledge to their particular farm and production system.
